Weekend Recap

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

We had a very busy weekend that was FULL of celebration and sunshine!

Friday night, Rowan made his big début as Baby Jesus in The Promise.

Saturday was our sweet, cool nephew's birthday. We spent the early part of the afternoon visiting family that was in town and then went to Hank's party. It kind of felt like a glimpse into a noisy future with my son (who just looked at me and smiled as dodge balls zoomed past his head!) Oh brother! :)

After the party ended, we went to another birthday party! This one was for my baby brother, Layton, who is not a baby anymore! In fact, he turned 16!!! I am still not sure how that happened. I remember when he was a smiley little babe (just like Rowan), and now he is a foot taller than me and driving! AHHH...I need to stop thinking about it, before I burst in to tears! Surely, my little baby won't grow up that quickly, right?!

Anyway, we celebrated with family and great food. Rowan and I took a little nap towards the end (I know, we are party poopers, but we were also just plain pooped!) I think Layton had a great time...that's all that matters, right?

Sunday was Dane's birthday. Rowan and I made him a big stack of pancakes and sang to him...okay, Rowan didn't really help with either of those, but he did enjoy mommy's singing and decided that he needed to be a part of daddy's birthday picture!

After church, we went to ANOTHER birthday party :)... I told you it was FULL of celebration. Then we went back out to the farm to relax and go for a walk. It was such a beautiful weekend to be outside! Rowan enjoyed spending some time outside, and he looked pretty cool in his baby shades!

Sunday evening, we went out to eat to celebrate Dane's birthday and a few other wonderful events that took place last week. We finally made it home around 9:00. Phew, I am exhausted just thinking about all that went on! Why can't weekends be just a little longer?

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend...and first part of the week! ;) How is it Wednesday already?

The Promise

Sunday, March 22, 2015

On Friday, Rowan played the part of Baby Jesus in The Promise. He did a great job...maybe he will be an actor! ;) Here are some pictures of the show.

I loved seeing that chubby little leg poke out of the swaddling cloth!

This is the last year of that The Promise will be performed. Several family members, friends, and members of our church have been apart of The Promise, including me. It is such a wonderful production, and it was very special to have Rowan participate.

Feeling Springy

Friday, March 20, 2015

Happy first day of spring!!! The warm weather we had this week was SOOO nice! We have been able to go on a few family walks and spent most of the weekend outside. Rowan is just loving it...and does anything smell better than a baby covered in sunscreen!? I don't think so!

I have been on the lookout for some spring/summer clothes for the little man. He is growing like a little weed, and barely fits in any of his 3 month clothes anymore. The baby boy spring clothes are adorable. Here are a few of the cute little outfits that I have my eye on.

denim romper / happy one-piece / hello mom one-piece / i'm not tired onesie / moccos

Aren't boy clothes the CUTEST!? I feel like that I'M NOT TIRED onesie fits Rowan perfectly...and I am going to need the matching shirt for myself (especially after the weekend we have planned!)

Enjoy your weekend!

Baby Care Products

Saturday, March 14, 2015

Does anyone else feel like buying baby products can be more daunting than picking out a new mascara?! What are the ingredients? Will it make him break out in a rash? Will it get the job done? Does it smell good? There are so many factors to consider! So, I thought I would put together a little review of some of our favorite products.

Rowan had a very bad case of baby acne when he was born. The doctor suggested using Aveeno lotion to help clear it up. I had planned on using Aveeno products from the get go, so I was glad that was his suggestion. Within a couple of weeks, (it was a really bad case) his baby acne was completely gone. I don't have a single complaint about any of the Aveeno products! We use the lavender scented lotion and soap, every night before bed. It smells amazing, which makes those last minute snuggles so delightful! I don't know that it actually makes him calm down, but it sure helps me! In the morning, we use the fragrance free lotion. We also have the fragrance free soap, but we tend to take baths at night, so we don't use it a lot. Both of the lotions rub in very well, and Rowans skin is always so soft! I highly recommend all of these products!

When it came to picking out diaper rash cream, I had no idea what to get. When we were at Babies R Us picking up some last minute things before he was born, I spotted a section of babyganics. I hadn't heard a lot about them, but they were no parabens and the packaging was super cute! (I am a sucker for awesome packaging!) Anyway, I am in LOVE with this product. It works very quickly and there is no scent, which I love! Luckily, we don't have to use it very often, but I am so glad I picked it up! We also recently got some of the babyganics night time lotion and bath wash. It smells like orange blossoms...yum! I love, love, love the Aveeno stuff, but I thought it would be fun to try a different scent occasionally. We haven't really used it, so I can't say how it ranks in comparison. My hope is that we can have a little rotation going on, and I will just keep a little stock of both.

Okay, so this next product isn't actually a baby care product, but it is great! I had a $20 coupon for Honest Co. so I picked out a couple of small things to try. This hand sanitizer is my new all time favorite. It smells great, leaves my hands feeling soft, and has great packaging...I know, I know, it is a problem! We always keep a bottle of this on Rowan's changing station, and I plan on ordering some small travel bottles to keep in my purse.

So there you have it...some of our favorite baby care products!

This is not a sponsored post. All opinions are my own...even when it comes to the packaging.

Rowan's 10 Week Update

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Our sweet, little baby is growing like a weed. He weighs over 14 pounds, and he is well over 24 inches long!

His favorite things to do include eating, rocking in his rockaRoo, hanging out with his puppy, and snuggling. I really think he is one of the happiest babies I have ever met. He smiles all day long and loves to talk to whoever wants to listen. He seriously melts my heart every single day.

He is sleeping really well through the night. He usually wakes up wanting his pacifier around 5 o'clock, and then he falls back to sleep until I wake him up at 7 o'clock. Naps are questionable. Somedays he likes to take little catnaps, and other days he would rather take a couple long naps...it is hit or miss. I hope to transition him out of that catnap stage soon!

Best moment of the week: Gosh, how do I pick just one? Now that I am back to work, any time we are snuggling and talking is the best!

Worst moment of the week: When I spilled half a bag of freshly pumped breast milk down the cushion of the couch. I wanted to cry!
