Deck the Halls

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

December has been busy, but I am not complaining! We have had a lot of fun, and there is so much more to come! We have already managed to mark off a few activities from my list...with the help of two of our favorite people!

We kicked off our holiday activities a couple of weeks ago with our First Annual Deck the Halls Christmas Extravaganza! It was work, but it was a lot of fun! We started the day at our house. Val and I decorated the inside, while the boys hung up lights outside. Our outdoor decorations are pretty simple (just two strands of lights).

Then it was on to Josh and Val's house!

It was a fun day of decorating! However, I have added a few more things! I did just get this AMAZING wreath that is now decorating my front door! If you are reading from Pennsylvania, check out Henry's Tree Farm...and be sure to like them on Facebook!

The End's Not Near, It's Here

Saturday, December 29, 2012

I hope that my fellow fans of The OC appreciated the title of this post. I am still hopeful that there will one day be a reunion! Anyway, the end of 2012 is here...does anyone else feel like it should still be September? My schedule kept me pretty busy during the month of December (made obvious by my lack of blog posts...sorry about that). However, I plan to fill you in on all that has been happening in the Fletcher house over the past month in this post!

I had a lot of fun decorating for Christmas this year. I really wish that I could leave our tree up all year round...that is how much I love it, but I had a lot more decor than the tree. I made these little snow globes, placed garland anywhere I could manage, and decked the walls with some DIY art.

onth of December decorating and enjoying hot cocoa snuggled up on the couch. I did a lot of shopping for Christmas presents and spent lots of time with my wonderful family!

PLUS...I purchased Young House Love! There will be a ton of DIY projects to come in the next several months! I have already flipped through the entire thing, and I have plans to use several ideas from the book! John and Sherry are awesome!

What else is coming in 2013? Well, I have lots of stuff planned! There has been a lot of progress on the porch (post coming soon), there are some color changing plans for the kitchen that should be executed in the coming weeks, and I have decided that I am going to give but first comes love a little makeover!

I HOPE YOU ARE EXCITED!

Oh Christmas Tree

Sunday, December 18, 2011

It is official...Christmas is just a week away! Most of you have probably already taken the time to put up a Christmas tree and all of your other Christmas decorations. (I started decorating 3 weeks ago!) This is the first year I was able to decorate the Christmas tree as a wife! I am sure you can imagine my excitement. Our small tree is the perfect size for the the corner of our living room, and luckily there is still room for all of the presents to fit around it. (Trust me...if the tree were any bigger presents wouldn't be an option!)

Decorating the Christmas tree is something I enjoy doing every year. When I was a child I would get to pick out a new ornament before Christmas, and as we decorated the tree each November we would look back at all of the ornaments that we collected.

Dane and I don't have an impressive collection of sentimental ornaments ro decorate our tree. I am sure that we will begin to collect those when we start having children, but this year I wanted my tree to have a theme: rustic!

Dane already had a great variety of rustic ornaments thanks to his wonderful mother!

We also had some shimmery, little red ornaments that added a needed pop of color!

Unfortunately, we did not have a tree topper, but that just meant that we could add our touch to the tree that was already great! We found this pretty silver star at Wal-Mart.

I also got a few simple, silver ornaments for the tree, and I used a couple of those to make these fun rustic ornaments!

Dane and I are so excited about spending this holiday season as husband and wife. We love our cute little tree and I am sure that it will evolve as we celebrate more Christmases, (I also need to find new stockings at some point...or make my own!) but for now we are very happy with our little tree and the special ornaments that decorate it!
