All Wrapped Up

Wrapping gifts is one of my favorite holiday activities...so much so, that I have actually contemplated starting a side business to wrap gifts for people. I am only kind of kidding. There is something so fun about spreading everything out on the floor, sipping hot chocolate, and packaging presents. You also have to wear your favorite Christmas sweater or Gangsta Wrapper t-shirt and have the Hallmark Christmas Countdown playing in the background...obviously.

So, what are my favorites when it comes to wrapping up the perfect Christmas gift?

Wrapping Paper: I usually use brown wrapping paper every year, and then I pick out one or two Christmasy choices to add some variation under the tree. I love the selection of Sugar Paper at Target...this one is SOOOO cute and festive!

Label Maker: I have had this label maker for a few years. I use it for a lot of different things, but my favorite use for it is labeling gifts. You can stick the label directly to the package, or put it on a tag.

Evergreen: I just started adding pops of evergreen to my packages last year. I had a short piece of garland left over, so I snipped a little piece off of it...I love the festive touch that it gives all the packages.

Fabric: Find a cute buffalo check or Christmas looking fabric and tear it into strips. It is a great alternative to ribbon!

Ribbon: I like to use a lot of different kinds of ribbon, yarn, and bakers twine to add color to my packages. There are some really pretty velvet ribbons that are perfect for Christmas time. Don't limit yourself to the ribbons that are in the Christmas wrap section. Check out your local craft store and get creative!

Gift Tags: You don't have to use tags, but there are a lot of cute options to choose from. Look how fun these are! If you are using basic brown wrapping paper, you can also use a marker to simply write on the package itself. I label our gifts in a variety of different ways.

Boxes: I love wrapping, but here is my disclaimer...if it isn't in a square box, I am not going to be able to wrap it. I will tie little things to the outside of other packages, or stick bigger gifts inside of a box before I wrap it.  I like to have a variety of different sized boxes under the tree, so I usually stock up on a few different sizes at the store and I also save boxes that items were shipped in. Make sure you add some tissue paper or crinkle paper and confetti for some extra fun!

So, what are some of your favorite holiday activities? I promise you that I like wrapping gifts way more than remembering to move that dang elf. ;)
