Date Ideas

Dane and I celebrated our TEN year wedding anniversary last month! It seems like we got married yesterday & also a lifetime ago...weird. Date night is something that we probably don't get enough of. When we finally do get a chance to go out, we usually find ourselves at the same restaurant or meeting up with friends. I think that dating your spouse is so important, and it is something that I want to get better at as we head into our eleventh year of marriage. I have put together a little list of date ideas...partially to share for inspiration & partially for me to reference when we try to convince ourselves that it is taco date night...again!

Go visit your local lake. This could be as simple or extravagant as you would like to make it, but many local lakes offer a lot of fun. You could pack a lunch and find a place to picnic, go fishing, rent kayaks or a canoe...or even a boat and spend the day soaking up the sun together. If you are feeling really adventurous you could even spend the night camping. We love being outside, and the lake has a variety of date options for nature lovers.

Date night in! Some of my favorite date nights involve eating carryout (or Taco Bell) in bed while we watch something on Netflix. Send the kiddos to grandma's for the night or put them to bed early & catch up on your favorite show or watch a funny movie. Don't forget to cap the night off with some ice cream!

Take a cruise. Sometimes there is nothing better than driving around with the windows down, listening to good music, and holding hands with your hubby. Find some country roads and just drive a bit. This is such a great date for deep conversations, dreaming plans for your future, and catching up on life. If I am being honest, typically if we are in the car we are running late...so driving around with no where to be is way more fun & relaxing than your typical car ride.

Plan a project. This date is probably not for everyone, but I think it is fun to dream up a project and see it come to life with your spouse. Pick something simple that you have been wanting to get done, and go for it! It could be something as simple as hanging string lights in the back yard or building a fire pit. Go together to the store for materials & have fun. Don't choose a project that is going to cause a lot of stress & try to pick something that you can finish during your "date"...that way you can enjoy it together after all of your hard work. Not all projects are enjoyable, but sometimes they can be fun!

This is going to sound silly, but run some errands. We have so much fun turning a grocery run into date night. Bonus points if you grab something to cook together when you get home. We have also scheduled adjustments with our chiropractor and called that a date. In fact, I think we need to do that again!

Hope these ideas are helpful! Go put a date night on your calendar.
